How the keyboard picker quiz ranks your answers

This keyboard finder creates a shortlist from the boards in the table below. Each answer contributes to a match score out of 100. The score describes how the stored features and editorial suitability labels fit your preferences. It is not a product rating, a performance measurement, or a prediction that you will enjoy a keyboard by that percentage.

Start with the keyboard form factors guide if you are unsure which size to select. The quiz offers full-size, TKL, 75%, 65% and 60%, plus no preference. It has no dedicated Alice, split or 40% option. Those layouts need a separate check of the actual key arrangement and the manufacturer's dimensions.

The six criteria and their weights

1. Use case: 30 points. Each board has an editorial suitability value for gaming, typing/coding, office work and travel. The selected value is scaled to 30 points. These values express the dataset's judgments; they are not measured typing speeds or gaming benchmarks.
2. Size: 22 points. An exact match earns 22, the next size in the sequence earns 11, and another size earns 4. The sequence is 60%, 65%, 75%, TKL, full-size. No preference earns every board 15. Adjacency describes the quiz's categories, not equal differences in case width.
3. Wireless: 16 points. If you need wireless, a wireless board earns 16 and a wired-only board earns zero. If it is optional, wired boards earn 11. If wired is preferred, wired boards earn 16 and wireless boards 13. Bluetooth and receiver connections share the wireless category.
4. Switch swapping: 12 points. Choosing yes gives hot-swap boards 12 and fixed-switch boards 2. Choosing maybe gives them 12 and 7 respectively. Choosing no gives every board 10. The score does not check compatibility with a specific replacement switch.
5. Budget: 14 points. A matching stored tier earns 14, an adjacent tier 7, and the remaining tier 1. Value, mid and premium are approximate bands rather than live prices. Shipping, taxes and any parts needed to complete a kit are outside the score.
6. Sound preference: 6 points. A matching sound label earns 6. Quiet preference gives a board labeled loud 1 point and other non-quiet boards 3. A mismatch between the other sound labels earns 3. No preference gives every board 5. These labels are not comparable decibel readings.

Read the reasons before choosing a winner

All six weights remain in the total, including answers with no strong preference. The result is rounded to a whole percentage. Every board is scored: even a wireless requirement or an exact size preference does not remove incompatible boards. A strong result elsewhere can outweigh a mismatch. Read “Why it ranks here for you” and reject any board that misses a requirement you cannot compromise on.

The first three results are the highest scores. Ties retain dataset order. The budget alternative is the highest-scoring value-tier board outside that top three; the step-up pick is the corresponding premium-tier board. A higher-priced alternative does not necessarily score better or suit you better. Expand the full ranking to inspect the rest.

What to verify on the product page

The table links to the listed manufacturers. Check the exact revision, assembled or barebones option, physical layout, connection modes and switch compatibility before buying. QMK/VIA is shown for reference but does not earn separate points. Prices and availability may have changed since the dataset's review date shown above. Sound labels cannot establish which complete board will be quietest in your room.

Change one answer at a time to see which priority changes the shortlist. Reset returns the form to its defaults and clears the results. The share button copies a link containing your six selected answers, so another reader can open the same preference set. A future dataset update can change its results.
